Our work is diverse but is unified by the collaborative process that is almost always involved in its creation.  Everybody on the team has a voice, especially the client. More particularly, the work represents designs that emphasize the user experience, because we care about people being able to successfully conduct their activities in the places we design. We care about making buildings and interiors that are beautiful and visually stimulating. We care making our designs budget-responsive and constructible, and fit for long-term use.

Biggby Coffee, Jersey City, NJ

New coffee shop – QSR occupies approximately 1,400 SF in a downtown location currently experiencing a revitalization program.  Restaurant is a franchise of a national brand based in the northern mid-west region, and is the first franchise of the brand to be established in the north east.  Design utilized corporate standards for millwork, equipment, color scheme and graphics to establish brand consistency, with adjustments made for regional differences in product availability.

Construction of the project was interrupted by the COVID-19 virus, and required retrofits to provide safety shields at the sales counter, directional markers for social distancing, and reduced furniture fit out.  Design of the safety shields was the result of student involvement from Professor Horwitz’s commercial design studio course at Berkeley College, with a student design being selected for development by the store owner.
